Best Practices for Toy Organization

Best Practices for Toy Organization

Some of our favorite organizational items for your child’s toys.

We all know that our children’s toys can get out of control - especially after birthdays and holidays. Move those Legos into bins that match the room and are easy for storage and containment, allow your child to have some individuality with a clothing rack that is just their size, or get some shelving that allows them to reach their own items.

ROLLING 3-TIER CART

These carts are perfect for art supplies. Think: one level paper, one level markets/pens/crayons (use mason jars to separate) and bottom level "finished work". Once bottom level fills up keep anything super precious in a memory box, send the rest off to Artkive to be documented.

ARTBIN SUPER SATCHEL

This artbin super satchel is perfect for treasures, mini board game components, beads and random scraps that kids love hanging onto! They also would be great to contain items like different colors of Legos! They also come in a few different sizes depending on what you are trying to contain.

BAMBOO BOXES

On a shelf, these opaque bamboo boxes keep the clutter out of sight, out of mind. They have handles and labels can easily be added to them.

SHELVING KIDS CAN REACH

Shelves that your child can reach are a huge plus when it comes to containing messes. This allows them to help you clean up and can assist in teaching them to tidy up on their own. We love this shelf for either in the closet or an area in their room where they play. It is also great because it can be secured to the wall.

BINS WITH HANDLES

Depending on your style, maybe the bamboo bins are not the best for your little ones’ closets. Good thing is that we know of some other great options! These bins are perfect for storage and are very sturdy. Store stuffed animals without them being seen, load them up with toys like these magnetic blocks.

CHILD SIZE CLOTHING RACK

Perfect for dress up storage, these child size clothing racks can be put in their closet or out as decoration. There are so many different styles on Etsy.

SHELF FOR BOOKS AND STORAGE

We love these shelves that double as both a beautiful open book shelf and storage within the cabinets. The cabinets are perfect for keeping art supplies in mason jars, little baskets that contain toys that cause clutter, and in the higher up cabinets, you can even keep delicate mementos for your child, such as their first piggy bank or a cherished stuffed animal.
