Our 5 Favorite Items for Closet Organization

Enjoy this throwback to one of our most popular blogs ever. These are our top 5, most used and loved supplies to create the closet of your dreams. Closets are complicated, you are trying to fit many categories into a relatively small space. Trust us, these tools will make it so much easier for you. And of course, feel free to schedule a virtual consultation with us, or hire us to come organize it for you. We bring all of these with us to most closet projects.

Velvet Hangers

Not only do velvet hangers prevent your clothes from slipping off into the abyss of your closet, but they are also great space savers. They are much thinner than traditional wooden and plastic hangers. This allows you to hang more items in your closet, or hang the same items with more space for a sleeker look.

These ones from Container Store are our favorite, and this is also a less expensive “dupe” from Amazon!

Over the Door Shoe Rack

This is not my favorite solution for storing shoes. I prefer them to be lined up in tidy rows, however it is one of the best ways to use vertical space if there isn't shelf space. We love the simplistic look of this one, and it also contains 2 shelves for purses or other small closet items that are needing a space.

Drawer Dividers

Must have, must have, must have. Keep all those perfectly file folded rows . Drawer dividers make it easy to put away and find your items. Separate items like socks, undergarments, hair bows, or other small items that are in the bedroom drawers in your house. Dividers are also lovely to have when you have smaller children who like to make their own decisions about their attire - this way they can easily choose the item they want without making a mess of things. Additionally, it gives them the ability to help learn matching and help with putting items where they go.

Two that we love are this one and this one.

Bins (with Labels)

For items like socks, bags, sports bras, etc. we love to use bins or baskets to keep items separated by categories and to keep the look of clutter to a minimum in the closet. Two of our favorites are these Hyacinth Baskets from the Container Store or these Tapered Rope Baskets from Target. Trust us, these baskets can make all the difference. Take it to the next level using these bin clips or this cost effective option from Amazon.

Bamboo Hook

A great way to store hats in your closet is on a bamboo hook! We love this set of individual hooks so you can also steal one to use for a pretty silk robe on display in a walk-in closet, next to your bed, on display in the bathroom - wherever!

Do you think one of these items would help in your closet? If you still feel stumped with where to start, book a Virtual Consulting session here and we can help you get started!

We’re also available to come take care of the whole project for you, all the way from sourcing products to taking donations away — if that sounds like your dream, book a quick consult call to get scheduled here.
